INDIA INTERNATIONAL PET TRADE FAIR (IIPTF)

We’re not as large as Interzoo in Germany, Global Pet Expo in USA, or CIPS in China YET, but even the leaders started somewhere.

IIPTF – 2009 was the third edition of the only trade fair in South Asia dedicated to the entire Pet Industry

IIPTF- 2010

The Dates of IIPTF- 2010 have not yet been confirmed. Please subscribe to IIPTF e-Gazette for regular updates, or visit us again later. Thank you.

IIPTF 2009 is now history. The Fair ran from 30 January to 01 February 2009 at the Delhi International Expocentre in Noida, a township within the National Capital Region of India.

The annual IIPTF was initially launched in February 2007 with several objectives. By all accounts IIPTF 2009, the third edition, was a great success. While the number of visiting foreign business delegates/buyers was down from previous years, the attendance by those from within India was up as was the number of footfalls by pet lovers/enthusiasts from the general public.

Exhibitors included those from across India in all facets of the pet industry. Several exhibitors were supported by the attendance of their foreign suppliers/partners including those from Poland, Germany, United States and Japan.

Attractions at IIPTF - 2009

Besides all of the products and services on display, a big attraction (and a first) at this year’s IIPTF was live demonstrations of dog handling put on by the Indian Air Force Dog Training Centre. With three shows daily (Saturday & Sunday only), these were great crowd pleasers.

Air Marshal J.N. Burma and Air Commodore A Chakraborty of the Indian Air Force were honoured guests at Sunday’s first show. Click here for dog handling photo gallery.

Another attraction was the live animals – puppies, cats, rabbits, birds, fish and rodents – that were on sale at several booths. There were even a few monkeys! And then there was the pet grooming station, where members of the general public were given the opportunity to bring in their pets for a free session by one of India’s leading pet grooming chains.

Media Coverage

Print Media: This, in fact, was amazing. Unconfirmed reports tell us that IIPTF-2009 received coverage in over 70 dailies India-wide. Speaking of those from New Delhi, we (the organizers) can confirm that all dailies carried coverage of the Fair throughout the weekend.

Television: There was TV reportage both Indian and International. We can attest to a minimum of 10 television interviews including one by a Japanese media agency. BBC and CNN/IBN also made appearances; while they didn’t interview the organizers personally, they were seen shooting conversations with visitors and exhibitors.

Special Launches at IIPTF – 2009

Indian Pet Industry Association (IPIA): A meeting of exhibiters was held on the first day of the fair and it was decided that the Indian Pet Industry has come of age to the extent that it needs a collective voice.

India Pet Directory - 2009: Currently in its second edition, this is a comprehensive listing of players in the Indian Pet Industry including manufacturers, exporters; retailers, distributors; franchisors; kennels & trainers, pet-related NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) and veterinarian doctors. Up front pages contain an overview of the Indian Pet Industry by Euromonitor International. Priced at a mere Rs 500 (USD10.25 or EUR8.00) the directory would be a bargain at twice the price..

IIPTF 2010 – the Next Edition

Being an annual event, we’re doing it again in early 2010 although the exact dates and venue have not yet been determined.

Thank you for your visit.
