Kaushik Shah, Proprietor, Unique Pet (Stall-3)
The India International Pet Trade Fair is really a great event worth mention in promotion of Indian pet industry at international or global level. We were here at the first fair last year, but in certain aspects, the fair this year is a great improvement. Such exhibitions provide two-way opportunities to us. First, to cooperate with foreign trade and business partners as well as we secondly get the chance to introduce the imported breeds like Pugs, Lasa Apso, Poodles, etc to the local market.
Rajesh Singh, General Manger, Swastik Industries (Stall-1&2)
This pet trade fair is a good start in promotion of the growing pet industry of India. Currently the fair is at the so-so position which indeed needs to improve more in size in the future. Though we are participating for the first time this year, we can forecast a good future prospect of the fair.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Singh. Yes, while we’re small compared Interzoo, even they had to start somewhere. But at least we started these fairs in India. We promise to keep at it, and are confident that we’ll grow as years go by.
Kishan Lal Satija, Managing Director, Shri Krishna International (Stall-63)
The first day of the fair was really a great impact as a good crowd thronged at the all stalls. We expected it on Sunday, the last day of the fair. Compare with what we experienced last year, I see improvement this year with the increase of foreign buyers. You know, we got only 2-3 foreign buyers last year, but this time we hope for more than that.
Simran Nigam, Paw Prints (Stall-61)
In terms of products available, this fair is great. I learnt a lot of new things at the fair. That includes aquarium processing and new petting techniques. I thank Creature Companion and all organizing people for providing a precious space to carry out my animal welfare activities. We wish to initiate new public awareness on pet welfare. That’s why we provide grooming service free of cost to the public during the fair.
Dr Anjana Nanchalal, Tinny Craft (Stall-37A)
From my point of view, this pet trade fair has both negative and positive aspects. First, the fair is a perfect place for manufacturers expanding their trade and business. But my sincere suggestion is that the organiser must announce as far as possible through leading national dailies. In addition to trade and business activities like dog shows and activities of other animals on the premises will make the fair more lively.
IIPTF response: Thank you Dr. Nanchalal. We did advertise in fair directories of other major trade fairs worldwide. We had a year-long ad running in a European pet magazine. We did have a press conference two days before the fair and coverage came up in several dailies. Then, while the fair was in progress we got coverage on local television programs. We think that it was well covered.
Dhananjay Shukla, Marketing Executive, Tradeindia.com (Stall-36A)
All visitors are responding great. But the flow of visitor is a bit slow. I hope it will improve well in the next few years. The fair is excellent for B2B people. I’m really delighted to see the potential manufacturers who have come long way from far corners of the world.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Shukla. We’re still young in terms of years of operation. This year we had exhibitors from Poland, Singapore and China. We hope that more will join us next year and follow-on years.
Shyam Sethi, Scroobee Pet Products (Stall-10B)
As we get few contacts at the fair this time, the next fair will hopefully be an improved one. This time we could not make better relations. But we have successfully displayed our products to the public.
Dr Shalini, Sernea Enterprises (Stall-43A)
It feels good to be at the second IIPTF. But I wish more exhibitors at the fair next year. I think this kind of fair is for manufacturers, business firms in the industry, not for public at large. So, I am hoping for more companies to make the fair a mega boom in 2009.
IIPTF response: Thank you Dr. Sernea. We plan to make the IIPTF a B2B fair only in a few years. But in the meantime, we decided to allow the general public in order to demonstrate the enthusiasm and potential of the Indian pet market to foreign delegates. Perhaps we will reserve the Friday for B2B only in a few years. Time will tell us when the time is right for that.
Ilan Kumaran, Chairman, Swathi Aqua Park & Empire Industry (Stall-57)
I appreciate the management committee. They organised the fair very systematically but unfortunately some of our fish died yesterday because of changing water. Anyway, crowd turnover at the fair is not as good as it happened in other fairs held in south Indian cities like Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, but the IIPTF has good future prospects. We expect it to grow in the future.
Andy Shih, General Manager, Haipet (Stall-47)
This fair is really great. But I would like to suggest one very important thing that the stalls of different items should not be mixed all together. All should be clustered according to items displayed on it. For example, if all stalls of pet product manufacturers come under one section and live dogs in another section, and so on for all displayed items, it will at least make the whole setting a more systematic look.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Shih. We’ll take your suggestion into consideration in years to come.
Manish Gupta, Halder Plastic and Moulding (Stall-55)
As we’ve been exporters for a long time, participating at this international pet trade fair enables us to also interact with our domestic market. This is a great achievement of the fair. We are looking towards further development of such events in the future.
Rohit Bhatia, Ventex, RFCL Ltd (Stall-35)
IIPTF is a promising platform for us. We are a pharma company and need this kind of network. We are planning to launch products. So this fair is quite a good opportunity to introduce our new items to potential buyers.
Dr J P Gurbaxani, Proprietor, Petswill (Stall-51 & 52)
This pet fair brings an excellent opportunity for traders and buyers. I expect this will grow excellently in the next two to three years. We also participated last year. The stalls are comparatively more organised this year. Look, the export market is booming. So, my idea is that the trade fair should bring up both domestic and international companies equally.
IIPTF response: Thank you Dr. Gurbaxani. We agree with your assessment. IIPTF is only two years old. We are confident that we will be a mega event in coming years with many more international exhibitors and business delegates. We’ve got staying power – we’ll keep at it!
Abhik Mazumdar, Director, Reef and Stream Aquascapes Pvt Ltd (Stall-50)
Creature Companion and LB Associates (Pvt) Ltd have done an excellent job. This fair is great for all people in the industry. If the management team could increase their effort a bit the show will be excellent in the coming years.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Mazumdar. We’ll increase our effort, but we wish you had amplified your comment with examples of how we could improve.
Subhash Gupta, Sales Director, Zorba International (Stall-8)
Our products are leather, jewellery, and collars. This fair is a very good start. This will definitely grow fast in the coming years. Though foreign delegates at the fair are lower than we expected, I hope it will grow in the next few years.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Gupta. Rest assured; it’ll grow.
Pawan Marwah, PAWS- A One Pet Product (Stall-1A)
Compared with the performance at the last year, this time I see some drawbacks in the fair. Even the duration of the fair can also be reduced to two days like last time. In fact, the volume of domestic and foreign buyers, exporters, importers turned up last year was far better than this year.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Marwah. Check the photo gallery. Is that a not a crowd around your stall. We’ve noted you comment.
Azam Khan, Owner, Pet Centre (Stall-10A)
In fact, this fair is a new look of the industry. This fair really helps people understand the true picture of the pet industry. This fair will certainly grow in the next 4-5 years.
Prithvi Jayakaran, Glenand Biscuits and Pet Treats (Stall-23)
It is good to be here at the fair which is excellent and expected to grow further in the next few years.
RP India Foods Pvt Ltd (Stall NA)
Being our first time at the IIPTF, I am really delighted to know the fair really works for people of all trades in the industry. Our target group is end-user customers. So, we can create a network at the fair with our customers.
Aamir Raza, Euro Pet Products (Stall-26)
We are 100 percent exporter of quality leather goods. Our products have already been established in the European market. So, our next target is the Indian market. Being at the fair gets the opportunity to expose ourselves in the domestic market.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Raza. A lot of Indian manufacturers/exporters at the IIPTF found that the Indian market is ready for high-end products that they have until now only been exporting to Europe and North America.
Tomasz Gasior, Exports Officer, Tropical-Tadeusz Ogrodnik (Stall-31)
We are satisfied with the reactions for further expansion by including other foreign countries in the exhibitors’ list. Very simply, participation of Asian countries like Malaysia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan… will improve the fair a lot.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Gasior. We agree with your assessment. IIPTF is only two years old. We are confident that we will be a mega event in coming years with many more international exhibitors and business delegates. We’ve got staying power – we’ll keep at it!
Lalith HN, Promotional Executive, Agrani Kennels (Stall NA)
We can get in touch with people who are really perfect for business expansion. Our products have already been established in South Indian market. Our participation in the fair is an attempt to introduce ourselves in the north Indian market. I like this fair for such opportunity.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Lalith. Pet ownership if growing fast in North India.
Amit Arora, Sales Manger, Gokal Chand & Sons (Stall 47A)
A new climate in the industry, this pet trade fair is a good effort for promoting the country’s pet industry. It is really good to get in touch with suppliers all over the world.
Arif Syed Ali, Chairman, Royal Kings (Stall-40)
Our idea here is to showcase our products to domestic clients, I mean the Indian market. As of now, our products are only exported to overseas markets. But our idea is to expand our market on Indian soil. Many people at the fair took keen interests in our quality leather products. It shows that our products have potential for selling in domestic market.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Syed. There is indeed a growing segment of Indian consumers that want (and can afford) high-end products that used to only sell abroad.
Sudhir Chandra, MD, Asian Diet Products Ltd (Stall-30)
Frankly speaking, the concept of the trade fair is a right move towards the development of pet industry at large. But attracting visitors to such a fair should be aimed at quality rather than quantity.
Prema Yanglem, Executive, PAWS-Pet Animal Welfare Society (Stall 39A)
We are an NGO that creates awareness about stray dogs. We have facilities for people to adopt stray dogs. This fair is one of the platforms where people can interact with us and understand our strategy.
Ashish Jain, Marketing Partner, Ankur Export (Stall 29)
We have been in the export business for the last 25 years. But in the last 7-8 years we saw a good potential in domestic market. So, our future plan is the Indian market. Within the next two months we will be operating in the domestic market. This fair is our initiative for the venture.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Jain. There is indeed a growing segment of Indian consumers that want (and can afford) high-end products that used to only sell abroad.
Jayant Kumar, Owner, Apnapan Fish Aquarium (Stall 61)
Most of the general public visitors are window shoppers. So we should convert them into real business or trading people.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Kumar. Regarding window shoppers: You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t force him to drink. But even window shoppers buy products that tickle their fancy.
Sachin Tyagi, Virbac Animal Health Indian Pvt Ltd (Stall 16&17)
People visiting the fair understand that our products, which are kept for displays, have the quality. Participating the IIPTF is the greatest opportunity I get. I’m satisfied with such public response.
Neo Kim Yew, Operator, Yi Hu Farm Trading (Stall 6)
Though the fair is quite good at certain level, I feel some ingredients are missing. First of all, I wonder why ‘Pedegree’ company is not participating at the fair. Compared with fairs in which we participated earlier at Chennai the number people here is rather low; it must be due to exams running over the weekend for all classes in North India.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Yew. Sorry, we can’t speak for Pedegree; you’ll have to ask them. Agree with the examinations aspect. That caught us by surprise.
Naveen Kohli, President, Shivan Polymers (Stall 27)
I am quite satisfied with the people coming to the fair. They are really business oriented people. I hope that the trade fair will help in stimulating business for the pet industry in India.
Dr Ishu Agrawal, Seven Eight Six Leather Products (Stall 4)
Of course, IIPTF is a good attempt to expand business in the Indian pet industry, both in domestic and international levels. Last year, at certain extend, the fair was good. This year, perhaps due to the hike of stall fees, the number of exhibitors could be more. Anyway, I hope for better outcome next year.
B Selvaraj, Aquasstar (Stall 5)
So good! The fair is really good. We wish to see more aquariums in the upcoming fairs. And I expect more shopkeepers will participate in the fair next year.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Agrawal. So do we!
R R Kumar, Director, Taiyo Pet Products Pvt Ltd (Stall 7)
Though we are operating in the Indian market, our products are imported. Taiyo, meaning sun in Japanese, our company deals with products imported from Japan. Currently the sales our company are growing at a rate of 40 percent. Our objective in this fair is to explore the North Indian market.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Kumar. We’re confident that your presence in North India will grow.
Richa Kapoor, Circle of Animal Lovers (Stall 8-A) This is our pleasure to participate at such a big event where we at least we could build links with our customers.
Anchal Jain, ‘Big Fish’ Five Continent Corporation (Stall 15)
The number of people turning up at the fair is great. They are really good and potential buyers. But for further improvement of the fair, the organising body must ensure publicity and press releases quite in advance.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Jain. We did advertise in fair directories of other major trade fairs worldwide. We had a year-long ad running in a European pet magazine. We did have a press conference two days before the fair and coverage came up in several dailies. Then, while the fair was in progress we got coverage on local television programs. We think that it was well covered.
Sanjay Dighe, GM Marketing, Allanasons (Stall 22)
Being exporter we always have been aiming at overseas markets. But, this time we realise that our domestic market has potential buyers. People at the fair requested to purchase our products. We are happy to lean all these experiences through the fair.
IIPTF response: Thank you Mr. Dighe. A lot of exporters have told us the same thing.
SA Khan, Proprietor, Hobby Zoo (Stall 43B)
IIPTF is a great event that can popularise the importance of pets among the general public. In order to create awareness about the industry more events like this are required in all parts of the country. Apart from hobbies, pet animals are stress busters and free people from tension while they are with pet animals.
