OVERVIEW
After three years of success, this year, the fourth edition of the India International Pet Trade Fair is introducing the hobby, leisure and garden and landscaping segment to bring out the undeniable affiliation between pets and gardens. Reputed international fairs like Glee, Birmingham have already made gardening and landscaping synonymous with pets by including all three under one platform.
According to estimates, the retail gardening market in India is worth Rs 1.6 billion and is growing at an annual average growth of 28 percent. Horticultural products, mainly plants, account for 60 percent of sales in the gardening market. In the 10 largest cities of the country – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kanpur and Lucknow, the gardening market has become a significant commercial activity, as there is demand to purchase horticultural products as a result of higher purchasing power and the non availability of products otherwise. According to Euromonitor International, a leading business intelligence provider on industries, countries and consumers, the Indian pet market is currently growing at a steady pace of 15-20 percent.
Besides the fact that the Indian pet and garden markets are growing rapidly, there are many more Indian manufacturers of pet and garden-related products and service providers than those that are already exhibiting abroad. For one thing, exhibiting at international destinations is an expensive proposition for small and medium players. IIPTF provides a platform for all players of the Indian pet and garden fraternity – big and small – to exhibit at an international trade fair. It also provides foreign and domestic delegates/buyers with a broader range of options if they are considering sourcing from India.
The highest number of countries represented by registered foreign delegates to date is 21. These include delegates from Australia, Canada, USA, UK, Germany, Italy, China, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Sweden, Russia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, amongst others. IIPTF has also attracted foreign exhibitors from Germany, Poland, China and Thailand.
IIPTF-2010 is now taking registrations for exhibitors and delegates.
The IIPTF is both Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C.) This is because a trade fair needs to have synergy, and we’re not big enough YET to rely solely on B2B interaction to generate that synergy. Allowing admission to the general public for B2C activities adds this vital element. But there is another aspect related to admission of the general public. It is an ideal way to demonstrate the enthusiasm of the Indian public (market) towards pet ownership. This is an element that has surprised many foreign delegates.
